Question GPU crashing

When my kid tries to render a video on blender the file just shuts down, the file works fine on a friends computer. We ran stress tests and the GPU will crash after a few minutes in a stress test. He took the GPU out of his friends computer and it also crashes in his system so I don't think it is a GPU problem.
He swapped hard drive and RAM with no change in results. Power looks very stable when running the stress test so we didn't think it was a PSU. IT was recommended be get a new motherboard so we upgraded to DDR5 RAM at the same time but issue is still there. I'm not sure if I should spend the money on a power supply first or if I should be looking at CPU even though it runs a stress test just fine.

GPU geforce 4070TI
CPU i9-13900
MOBO MSI Z790
Corsair 1000w power supply

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

MSI have a number of Z790 chipset motherboards. What is the model of your motherboard? On that note, what BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Make and model of your ram used on the platform?

You could try and use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site, in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

It is a atx lga 1700 ddr5 motherboard. I’ll have to check with him what BIOS version I know he said they updated it and they have tried removing the drivers and reinstalling. RAM is vengeance 2x16 6400 mhz.

What version of Blender is he using. Here I threw that question over to my son who is as we speak working on Blender 3.6.1 so a little older.

So my son said for him running the older version for better integration of plugins and function.

He also said with Blender "eevee next" and raytracing are now part of the 4.0 version.

He also pointed out does your son have all his required plugins.

So just throwing this out there if it's not a hardware issue.
