I was set to buy the MSI Radeon R9 280 3gb GPU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127789&cm_re=msi_radeon_280-_-14-127-789-_-Product)

that GPU is now out of stock.

would the Sapphire radeon r9 280 3gb card be a good replacement (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

Solution
If you are looking for an Avg of 30FPS and don't mind med settings, then the 280 will work fine. It will work, but you'll need to leave the settings low/down/off. When looking to play this game, you really need to get the best GPU you can afford. (with a good CPU. If your CPU isn't higher end the card will suffer again.)

i still want very good frame rates at 1080p though on games like assassins creed unity, the 270x wont do to well with that.
im not worried about power consumption, just price and frame rates

my budget is closer to the powercolor r9 280

how will it handle ACU and whats different between it and the sapphire version

There's really no difference other than some minor clock speed differences which may result in an average 1-2FPS difference.

what gpu could i use to get a minimum of about 35-40 thats relatively cheap

At what settings? As I said, the 280/7950 should run med settings at 1080 with 30FPS avg. According to Anand you'll need something around a 290X or GTX780 for high at 1080.

Ultra is even worse.

Those two cards will do give you 30+, but barely. Here is why I said the 7950/280 needs med settings for that game.

It will give you ~30FPS, with dips into the mid teens. You need high end hardware to hit 60FPS with high details.

im looking for a minimum that would be unnoticeable on medium settings, i dont need high or ultra settings really
