GPU DIE Scratched, help needed!

So I have this XFX Radeon 6950, while I was booting up, I saw some strange lines on my screen/monitor, then I go to the bios, then I saw this black line in my monitor, then I shutdown the computer, and take a look to my GPU and disassemble it, then I saw this weird scratches on my GPU die, is this still gonna work if I put a new thermal paste on it? And I'm still waiting to my new thermal paste, Because my thermal paste is still on delivering progress on eBay.

Edit: I can't put the black thingy on my monitor, when I was booting up to the bios, and I saw and some hdd error (don't have hdd yet) but something is like blocking the letters on "hdd error" and when I got into the bios, there's a vertical black line on the side of my monitor, and that's the tine when I saw this Scratched GPU die

Looks like there has been a flood of thermal paste.
If used thermal paste was electrically conductive, this might cause problems.
I'd clean it up very carefully.

Scratches don't look significant.

I just remembered, I was so dumb, so what I did first, I disassemble the GPU because I was modifying the plastic thing on the GPU so it doesn't block the SATA ports and I FORGOT to apply some thermal paste and probably that's the time i saw the vertical black lines on the bios

So my question is, it still gonna work if I just put some new thermal paste on it? No changes to performance? The scratch?

Could be, could be not.. Just try and see.
I don' t think anyone can predict that.

It works now, there's no more GPU artifacts, just applied some new thermal paste!
