Earlier today, I was playing a lightweight game when suddenly my computer shut down. I noticed that some components were still lit up inside my computer so I decided I should reboot. This caused my GPU to spit out a small amount of sparks and left slight burnt smell coming from the heat fins of the GPU. I'm fairly certain the GPU is finished as after removing it my computer powers on fine, but since I have a 3rd Gen Ryzen CPU I cannot get to any bios screen or anything of that sort as it has no integrated graphics. Unfortunately I do not have any other GPU lying around.
Also, I have a few concerns:
Edit: Upon opening up the GPU, I found what I think is a busted capacitor (picture below; warranty expired). Does this mean that only the GPU was affected or should I still be cautious of other components being damaged?
Also, I have a few concerns:
- If I want to test whether or not it is my GPU or the PSU that is damaged, should I be worried that putting either one in a different system will damage that system?
- Is it possible that this also somehow damaged my motherboard or any other components?
- AMD Ryzen 7 3700X w/ H115i pro cooler
- GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Elite
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
- EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC
- Corsair Ax760 80Plus Plat
