I have an Asus ROG Maximus X Hero, which I just realized after tinkering the Bios settings, when I check the gpu status, my gpu is set to x1 native. To confirm this I ran GPU-Z, and it also appears as X1 interface despite under load. I flashed the bios to 1401 (previously from 0801 to 1602) and there is no change. I have tried reseating the GPU and also the same result appears. But then weird thing is, games dont appear to be affected and so does benchmarking software.

For example, Sniper Elite 4 ran on my GTX 1080 at Ultra, with motion blur off at 100-120fps, which I found out, is normal based on review sites.

So, what might be the cause of the problem? Thank you in advance

Solution
If your videocard showing 1x mode at any 16x/8x PCIE slots - your videocard may have PCIE_lines damaged or golden fingers dirty.
Clean golden fingers, check SMD capasitors near.
Posible bad contacts GPU-textolite.
