Hello..
My pc specs are:
Cpu: intel i7 4770
Gpu: Evga gtx 1060 sc 6 gb
Ram: 8 gb ram ddr3 in dual channels

I have bad gpu usage drops in battlefield 1causing severe fps drop from 80s to 20 or even zero every minute making the game unplayable at all with sounds cut
I reinstalled my win 10
Disabled superfetch ,origin in game time, background apps and notifications
I tried (prefer max performance )in Nvidia control panel ..I have latest drivers

That gpu drop occur in bf1 only ..i played GTA V ,Witcher 3 , crysis 3 all of these game are very smooth on ultra 60+ fps without any drops ..so i think the graphic card isnot defect as this happen in bf1 only!
My max ram usage is 7.3 gb in amiens so i think my ram is more than enough also my friend has 8gb ram and it runs well
I appreciate any help ..sorry for my bad english

Solution
That's a battlefield issue. I just looked up extr offset. It's something with the battlefield servers being horridly optimized. Play on smaller servers and this is less prevalent.

Sorry man just google extr offset and every thread I saw was a complaint about battlefield 1 and it's optimization for multiplayer.
I think 4770 is more than enough ..it hits 80-85% in heaviest maps as empires edge and amiens and in other maps it hits 60-70% ..it is equivalent to 6700 non k...i agree with u about upgrading ram but the issue i have in bf1 is gpu usage drop...does the insufficient rams cause that gpu drops?! Or the game engine it self is defect?

when you drop fps to 0, that is a sign that your cpu could be thermal throttling

do you monitor cpu temps while gaming?

yes i have 73 degree celsius max with stock cooler ..it throttle if its above 90(i asked about this )...also the game freeze in first minutes of gameplay not after hours so there is no time for cpu to throttle...also the same temps are present with other mentioned games like witcher 3 and no drops at all ...all i see in bf1 is gpu dropping not cpu dropping
gpu core speed and memory clock speed drop from gaming to idle (at that time) fps drop for seconds then it return to normal

Is it 1mbps or 1 megabyte a second (which is 10mbps)?

If it's either of those that's probably it to be honest. You have to download other character information files which can cause the game to freeze since it can be coded in as a full stop until download.

If your system works fine in single player (where there's actual AI at play) then your computer is fine. Single player is more intensive cpu wise than multiplayer.

Of note also, if there's ANYTHING else on your computer that remotely requires network it probably draws some bandwidth and chokes the game, making it freeze.

i've played battlefield 1 MP for a while now, and here's what i found, its a CPU Hog, always above 70% during normal gameplay, and 85% in amiens.. and RAM usage is a known issue, always above 9GB sometimes even 11GB, i had some severe stutter issues and found that the memory restriction option was enabled, i disabled it and everything is fine now (occasional FPS drops when i first launch the game and enter a MP map),, you could try the following:
1. Disable memory restriction in Display settings, its under the advanced tab (this is enabled by default)
2. get more system memory
3. get a better CPU cooler

Note: Im at the highest settings @ 2560x1080 which maybe why my RAM usage is higher than yours

10mbps internet can cause this problem very easily. When a new user joins the server it will 0fps framedrop while they connect as you're already taxing what little bandwidth is available with a connection to 31 or 63 other people based on what server you're on. It has to download their user profile or any voice/text/input commands issued by every player. It's playable, bit annoying.

Not to mention that ANY background app can run like team speak/ventrilo and cause lag problems. Any websites, anything that uses a form of network. Windows update can run and it is deemed priority by the system and may hog your bandwidth to download.

It seems odd yes but I've experienced this specific situation when my internet was being throttled.

Are you running ANYthing in the background??

thanks for your time mate ...many people said to me 8 gb ram is more than enough (also my friend is using 8gb ram without issues)
i disabled memory restriction but it didnt fix for me

nothing in the background...bf4 was good with my network connection ..i think i should sell that game 😀

Actually, 8gb is more than enough, in most games. There are games where 16gb is now what constitutes 'more than enough'. Battlefield 1 is, in my opinion, one of these games. This is why when people ask for help it's critical that they mention which games they play.

i found something may help ..during the fps freeze i see Extroffset (in network graph) which i recently know it means disk usage is very high then it drops to normal then fps return to normal ...so i think the problem is (high disk usage) in maps like amiens so any help with that ??

i havent experienced this issue lately, and i always play on a 64 player conquest server, i mean after i disabled the GPU memory restriction
