Question GPU dying?

I'm running a 5yo laptop with a 6300hq and a 940mx and suddenly either half the screen or all of it starts banding random colors, I think 1 pixel high lines. It started happening after watching some netflix after a long csgo session. Please don't tell me the gpu is now starting to die, if so are there ways to slow it or fix it? If the gpu is a bga soldered chip I might be able to pull something off like a transplant if 940mxs are still available?

So I have the 940mx disabled in the device manager and tested if it's off by running furmark and while sitting at the home screen it's doing the color banding. Now would that be cpu/igpu related?
