GPU fan making abnormal subnoise

Hi,

The fan's on my AMD Radeon R9 270X is making a weird noise beyond the actual fan noise. It's easy to hear it if you listen. The noise appears only if the fan speed is over 80%. The noise is very hard to explain, its like Zoom zoom zoom.... xD

My guess would have been bad bearings. What do u think?


P.S: It's a DUAL-X cooling system on the card. (2 fans)

Watch from like 1.30. I have that noise, only thing is that my noise is much "light".. That noise is dark, like male dark, deep 😛 Mine is light, like a girl.. Other than that, exactly the same noise.

edit 2 - Im not meaning the fan noise. Listen BEYOND the fan noise, and u hear a weird noise.. 😛

Just check. It might be electronic / coil whine. Stop the fan for a second when its running and see if the noise stops. If not then it is the fan. You'd htne need to remove the gpu and carefully put a small drop of oil so it ran down the shaft. Then try it back in the pc.

Yea of course the noise stops.. 😛 I begin to hear the noise at 70%+ fanspeed. Is a special lubricant needed, or can I just take a small amount of oliveoil, or grease?

Oh also, the plastic "fan case" vibrates at a VERY low frequency, like REALLY fast. I felt it when I had my finger on the "fan case"

Well. I didnt have any appropriate lubricant, but I dismounted the GPU, dismounted the cooling system and reseated some thermal paste. I managed to get my temps from 70 to 62 degrees celsius in BF4 load 1+hour with ultra/med on 1920x1080.

The noise is still there though

Extremely little dust. Wasnt even much dust on the fan blades itself..
But I dont get it.. When I have the GPU in my hand, the cooling system is dismounted. Now I have 2 parts. The actual graphic card with the GPU in center, and the cooling system "case". On the fan case, where should I put oil?

Like on that picture, do I have to unscrew the actual fan? And is the bearing in the center of the fan?

run it down on a match stick... I dont get it.. I know what a match stick is, but what u mean? Ok, picture this.
I have the fan case, im looking at the two fans. If I move the blades with my hand, I can find 3-4 screws (Havent counted them), that seems to be mounted on the heatsink (The gray one). Should I unscrew these screws, then pull up the actual fan?

I have no idea how it's installed. Im just picturing me. Btw,
OT: Im going to reapply thermal compound on my CPU. What method should I use, small dot, cross, square etc.. I have FX-4300, Hyper Evo 212 and Cooler Master Thermal Compound kit.

Well, what's the point of RMA it now, when I have "broken the seal" loong time ago.. Then i'll just stick with this beloved GPU til it crash. It's only a month old 🙁 Same as all my other components. I'll get a lubricant.
