GPU Fan Speed

I just installed MSI AfterBurner. I have a Asus Strix R7 370 that runs just a bit too hot for my taste while playing witcher 3 ( Approximately 78°C at most with max load) with a mix of medium and high settings. On low/medium settings, I get around 60-71°C. My question is how much rpm can a gpu fan take safely? And what % should I set it around using MSI AfterBurner?

This is probably a play by feel scenario, put the fans as loud as you can bare and if the temps are good then drop the speed till you have a good balance between temps and noise.

My MSI Afterburner keeps going back to 30% gpu fan speed even though I keep setting it at 45. Any advice?

There should be a little icon that says auto, disable that and also there will be an icon to the right of the fan speed slider with something along the lines of user configuration.This should let you pick your speed and also set a fan curve so if it gets too hot you could ramp up the fan to cool it.

Nvm I got the fan curve to activate. My fan curve is 40% at 30°C, 45% at 40°C, 50% at 50°C, and going up by 5% for every 10°C. Is this good?

Okay so I disabled, auto, and clicked user define. But its at 30% at 30°C even though I set it for 40%...

That will depend on you, how loud you want your gpu to be? Play around and see what is good for you, strix coolers tend to be good so I bet you could set the fans quite high without too much noise

Actually that might be an error, strix fans won't spin until a certain temp so they are at 0% but the computer thinks its 30%

I mean I have a fan in my room that basically makes my pc silent lol. So I applied and save, but it is now corresponding to the bar at 25%.... Do I have to click anything in the settings??

Nope, now you just have to play around with the fan curve and see what temps you get, although the standard fan setup was probably fine, amd chips can get a little but its all preference, play around with it and see what kind of temps you can get

Just started up the Witcher and I'm standing in a tavern still.
My fans dropped back to 30%.... Idk why this is happening

Right when I hit apply after changing the bar to 45%, it goes to 45%, then immediately drops to 30%.

It will be following the fan curve, once the gpu heats up, which it will, the fans speed up

Change it to 45 when you have clicked on userdefine, I get that on afterburner, still catches me out sometimes haha

Yep, my gpu heats up right after I start up the game and the fan speed drops from 40-30%. Then the temp continues to rise to 70°C while fans stay at 30%

You could probably just put the settings back the way they were and it'll run fine.

Testing it out will be the best way to get to know the software and your gpu, if I was at my PC I could have looked at afterburner and detected changes but i suppose that how you learn
