Looking to get a 4k or 2440p monitor for Christmas and I was wondering which graphics card would be able to run games like BF4 at atleast 60+ fps on high or ultra settings

For 4k gaming you will need the very best cards in 2 way SLI AT LEAST. 4k gaming is extremely demanding and frankly hardware is not there yet. I have 2x 980's and I can barely sustain over 70 fps in BF4 MAXED.

The gpu hardware has not caught up yet IMO for 4k gaming. If you insist though, like I said go for the very best because you will definitely need it!

If you want to get a good idea of the frames you will get, google 4k gaming benchmarks and then cry! 😀

I would highly, highly recommend a card with AT LEAST 4GB of VRAM for 2560x1440 or higher. You'll also want AT LEAST the power of a 780. Thus, from Nvidia, your main options are 970, 980, Titan Black, Titan Z, and 780 6GB. I would probably recommend the 970 or 980 at this time (you might want to wait for the higher VRAM versions). From AMD, I'm unaware of how the non-flagship perform, but the 290X and 295X2 are solid options. The GTX 970 is the best bang for your buck at the moment.

I'm so happy to see someone actually admit this. There are so many people on here boasting about how a GTX 970 can handle 4K gaming, which I personally find ridiculous. You're absolutely right that the GPUs aren't there yet. The GM200 chips should change that though, as they are rumored to be 50% more powerful than a Titan Black.

Just the GM200s are Tesla only and we will be getting a arciture slightly diffenret from it the GM205 or GM210 i think for the next generation of nVidia GPUs for the GeForce series. It will still be based off of the GM200 GPU die just slightly modified for better video output from the internals being a little reworked to pass data quicker to those parts on the PCB.

Also the TITAN Black is kinda bad at gaming it is no way a bad card just not as good at gaming as a GTX 970 is at 1080p nor at 1440p gaming is all never did 4k gaming so idk about that one.
