Looking to upgrade to a 34" widescreen 3440x1440 curved monitor. I play WoW & World of Warships. Will an RX 6700 XT handle the job or do I need an RX 6800? Yes, I know the 6800 is the better option and if possible that will be my choice.

Depends what FPS you want to get.

2K ultrawide is strange reso and not often tested when GPU is reviewed. Since it sits between 2K and 4K resos, 2K ultrawide would be average between 2K and 4K FPS. <- With this, on average, 6700 XT should get ~80 FPS on 2K ultrawide, while 6800 would get ~100 FPS.

Friend of mine has a 1060 6GB with that resolution. He is able to play pubg , wow and some racing games like forza horizon4, assetto corsa and automobilista with no problem. So the 6700xt should be fine because its way more powerfull.

Yes, but drivers for Radeon GPUs are far worse than for Nvidia GPUs. And when you have a bad driver, with poor optimization, it doesn't matter how powerful GPU you have, if it doesn't work as it's supposed to.

Radeon GPUs are often cheaper than Nvidia GPUs, but they also consume more power (on average) and have poorer GPU drivers. So, there is a trade-off with them. (Drivers is also a reason why i'm sticking with Nvidia myself.)
