Gpu for amd fx 6300

Recently bought a pc from a friend, not really a computer genius and looking for advice

Amd fx 6300 six core processor

Current gpu is gtx 950
16 gb ram

Im aware i am soon going to be due for an upgrade probably to a 1000 series graphics card, from my research I can see there are many that are compatible with this processor. any help will be much appreciated thanks

Well you bought an FX as a budget way or you are going to buy?

Sadly that CPU is really old and has seen it's day. It is now 6 years old. Wasn't a great CPU when it came out.

that cpu is too weak for anything more than a gtx 1050 ti

after that it is a dead end

it was a pc my friend had so its not new and that is the processor it currently has in it

Currently using an AMD FX-6300 and 1060. Going pretty well with the CPU oc'd to 4.1 on 3.5 you really see some issues apart from that its good for most games low settings at 1080p

I oced 4100 without issue to 4.5GHz without upping voltage.
Consider him to upgrade to haswell, getting i5, he has allready ram, and budget motherboard, i paid mine around 40$ new last year.
