I currently have a GTX 760 and a i5 4670 CPU for gaming.

I am wanting to upgrade my GPU for sure to at LEAST a GTX 970 for 1080p gaming. However, I could possibly get a GTX 980 / 980 TI without changing the CPU, or a GTX 970 and upgrading to a 4770 CPU.

Basically, would it be best for me to go with a GTX 970 and a 4770 CPU, or a GTX 980 / 980 TI without changing the CPU.

Thanks!

Solution
youve probably got a prebuild gaming system, i highly recommand to upgrade that too.
for 1080p it doesnt matter if u get a 970 or 980 ti.

so get a gtx 970, another option is to wait till june for the polaris/pascal gpus.

I built my PC myself. What do you mean i should upgrade that too? Theres no need to upgrade anything else really

Is pascal a feature within a GPU or a brand that makes GPUs?

than i was wrong.

be carefull with generic powersupplies.
*kcuh corsair cx vs/ evga b*

Will they release new GPUs for this or will it be a added feature to existing cards or something?

Pascal in short are the New GPUs coming from Nvidia this summer, of course they will perform a lot better than current gen GPUs. Now aint the right time to buy GPUs, better hold on a couple of months and get Next gen GPUs from AMD/Nvidia. Deals will be much better then
Polaris from AMD also seems great imo

Pascal is the codename for Nvidia's newest creation, that's all.

Hmm, ok thanks. But out of my 2 options, which would u recommend?

They will be new GPUs entirely

thanks!
