Question gpu for m4a78lt-m

Hi
I have an old mb Asus m4a78lt-m and I want to pair it with a msi geforce 1050 ti (dual fan). The gpu does not require extra power connectors.
My question, will it work? I intend to change my mb and cpu in the future but to keep the 1050 ti so for now i would like to buy this gpu.
My configuration is like this:
PSU 450
CPU Phenom II x4 965
GPU gt 240
RAM 12 Gb

Make and model of your PSU and it's age? Wattage alone doesn't mean you can drop XYZ parts into system.

If the wattage allows why can't i plugin another component into system? My questions was about compatibility between mb and gpu, from what i read the wattage is enough for upgrade...
I think the psu is sirtec and is 9 years old (my computer is old).
