GPU for old server

I was given an old server that I would like to use for some video editing and play some older games like HL2. It has 8GB PC2-6400, a quad core xeon x3220 2.4GHz, a 240GB SSD, and a 600w Cooler Master RS-600-AMBA-D3 PSU. The Asus P5BV-M server motherboard only has 2 PCI-E x8 and one is in use for a USB 3.0 card and the other has an old 512MB video card. I'm looking for a better video card that will fit in the x8 slot in this old board and work decently well. Thanks

or even a HD 7xxx series would work in a x8 slot just fine

From what I am seeing, is cards are X16, and my board only has X8 slots. Am I going to be stuck trying to modify the slot to fit a larger card, or are there some older models that are made to fit X8?
