Hi guys

My Specs x64:

Intel Core i5 6600, Gigabyte B150M-DS3H-CF, Kingston Hyperx fury 8 gb DDR4 RAM, Seagate 1 tb HDD, SMPSU CM 350W, UPS 360W/600VA, Windows 7.

I've got my HP 22es (1920x1080) monitor running on the on-board Intel HD Graphics 530.

Issue is that the on-board video card is unable to handle my monitor's native resolution. The videos and pictures are fuzzy.

To fix that I've decided to install a GPU. My choice, at present, is the Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti. I use Adobe Ps/Il a lot. I'd play a bit of Dota2 and CS:GO now.

Please advice as to the following:

1. Is it a sound choice?

2. Given the power combination-SMPSU 350W & UPS 360W/600VA, will there be a need to upgrade it if I go with it? (I am not very keen on spending here)

3. Should I go for the normal version or the factory OC version of the GPU?

4. Is it compatible with my setup and with the Win7 OS?

5. Feel free to suggest.

My budget <= 150$.

Thank you.

Solution
why do you have 2 power supplies in your PC ? are those external power supplies if this is the case then one if for computer one is for video card. so 350w for 1050ti is fine.

Hi guys

1. Is it a sound choice? It's a budget choice.

2. Given the power combination-SMPSU 350W & UPS 360W/600VA, will there be a need to upgrade it if I go with it? (I am not very keen on spending here) I would find a 400W or better quality PSU with an 80+ Bronze efficiency rating.

3. Should I go for the normal version or the factory OC version of the GPU? MSI AB can be used to manually OC the card. Due to the binning process OC'd versions are sometimes more stable. THat however is not a rule.

4. Is it compatible with my setup and with the Win7 OS? It is.

5. Feel free to suggest.

It isn't on par with the 6600.

Illustrator can utilize the GPU to offset some of the CPU workload. I'd not go with an entry level GFX card.

I don't know where you live. In the States this https://jet.com/product/GIGABYTE-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti-DirectX-12-GV-N105TD5-4GD-4GB-128-Bit-GDDR5-PCI-Exp/43e74fb8c4214df5be95aaf6287a4927 is one of the least expensive models. Add in the spring15 promo code and it's a very good value but still not something I would pair with the 6600.

Damn things don't come cheap.

But thanks for being totally honest with your answers. Surely my i5 6600 deserves better.

Please guide me with the following.

1. If I go with a 450W or a 500W SMPSU for a GPU, of what Wattage/VA should the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) be?
Will my current UPS be of any service, by any chance?

2. The 6600 is currently running with the stock Intel air cooler. Should I replace it with a better air cooler.

3. Feel free to suggest.

Thanks for the help. (Indian in India)

Yes, that's right. UPS is the external for PC while PSU is for the mobo.

Thanks.
