I'm running with a Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40Ghz for about 5 years, my current GPU is 9800 GTX+ it was good back in the days but I cannot even play Shadow of Mordor today because it doesn't support directX 11 lol, anyways I want to get a new GPU that will run today games even in medium settings, I will upgrade the CPU in the future

Solution
Try an AMD R7 250x. Also make sure your motherboard supports PCI Express 2 or higher. You really need a new cpu. If you get any gpu higher in performance your gonna bottleneck like crazy. You can get an i3 today for around 100 bucks. I don't think you'll be playing crysis 3 on medium with the r7 250x but you'll be able to play games at 30 fps maybe on medium. If you get an i3 the r7 260x or the r9 270x would be a great card for you.

Thanks for the answer, I'm planning on buying a whole new rig in a few months but still I want to pick up a graphic card that will be able to hold new games like Shadow of Mordor even in medium with my current rig, would love to get more replies.

Will I be able to play modern games? even on medium will be fine but long as it's playable.

100$-150$, maybe 200$

Oh, with those gpu's you could easily play at high-ultra.

Yeah I assumed so, but will I be able to play with my current Q6600? because it might take time before I get a new rig

I wouldn't get the 250xm with just a little more cash you can expect a lot more performance. Your cpu is still somewhat fine and cant be any worst then the first generation bulldozer or phenom 2 cpu's. I think you would be very happy with a 750ti. If you want more of a bite i'd recommend the r9 270 or r9 270x. I wouldn't go higher then that though with that cpu. Don't go with a r9280 or higher because at that point your going to be looking at a cpu bottleneck and likely wont see the performance gains vs a 270 or 270x and i'd go on a guilt trip recommending you to blow your money away. You can expect to play games on high settings but not ultra with the newest titles with 60 or more fps. If your good with adjusting game settings you can have some settings on ultra, most on high and shadows on medium with no AA and your good to go for a while. At 3ghz your cpu would be equivalent to a 8150 in relation to games that use 1-4 cores. so your not that far off. gone are the days of quantum leaps in cpu power every year.

Oh well if that's so then I think I would go for 750ti, will 750 be okay aswell? the ti one is a bit expensive.
Anyway if I will go for the 750ti eventually which one should of these should I get?:
MSI GTX750Ti Twin Frozr OC 2GB GDDR5
Gigabyte Geforce Gtx750 Ti GVN-75TOC-2GI

I personally have bad experience with gigibyte and quality but you however may not. I'd go with MSI or Asus. The 750 will be fine and wont be that far behind a ti edition. Just make sure you grab one with 2GB of ram and not the one with 1GB for the sake of future proofing. Also, These cards are based off the new Maxwell architecture so they overclock sky high. Heres a bench of battlefield 4 at 1080p with everything on high I pulled from google search. If mesh quality was slightly lower and shadows was on medium you could expect a smooth 60fps.

I know my old 7750 was roughly equivalent to my even older 9800gt and the 750 dishes twice the frames of that so whatever framerate you get on your games just double it and at +5.

Solution
I just installed shadow of mordor on my system, q6600 paired with a 750ti. It ran the benchmark at 65 GPS average, so with a 750 you can expect similar results with your setup. My CPU is also at stock speed BTW.

I was searching for a good 750 for you on amazon and came across a 7770, basically a 260x that is cheaper then the 750 while giving you very similar performance. Its asus so its great quality and has 2gb of ram for modern games. The gtx750 doesnt require any supplemental power from the power supply and thats its main benefit. Its something to keep in mind.
