GPU for video editing?

I'm building a PC for my friend. He wants something where he can edit video, use photoshop, do effects, etc. at a high level. Should I recommend a GPU to him? I'm putting a 4770k in the build, and I want to keep prices around $1000. Any recommendation?

GTX 970/80, GTX 780 TI 290/X something like these?

I think the 970 4GB version would be a good card to look at.
