I have a Dell Precision 3660 with 1000w PSU. Current GPU is a Reference 6900XT, with two 8 pin power connectors. I am looking to upgrade to a bigger GPU, and noticed the 8-pin cables also have 6-pin connectors on each cable. Can I use an adapter to take the two 6-pin to 8-pin to make a third 8-pin connector? The PSU should be able to handle the bigger GPU, but not sure if the current cables are either or, not both. Posted on the Dell Support portal but no luck so far.

That should work, that is the same number of 12V+ lines.

Just have to make sure the adapters you get are decent, or solder them instead of crimping when you get them to be sure.
