Hey guys,

Does the GPU, when idle pump electricity from wall or only when active (playing games for example)?

Also, when active, does it take more from plug the harder it works or it always takes the same amount of energy?

Thanks!

Solution
When your PC is on but idle, your GPU will take a negligible amount of power. The harder it's working the more it draws.

To give you an example, my PC as a whole draws about 100 - 120 Watts under light use (three monitors, some browsers etc). When gaming it draws about 550 Watts.
