So, i have this weird issue for like weeks. The only way to force my PC to display any image, including post is to reset BIOS settings, or removing/inserting CMOS Battery. Easiest way is to hold power on button, my PC starts then turn off, then i press it again, and it seems like BIOS is reseted. But, i have to manually override boot to Windows, without changing anything in BIOS, i i change anything, restore defaults, save settings, then cycle starts again, no display whatsoever, neither on iGPU or dedicated GPU.
First i thought my GPU died, it was making sense, because it slowed down by like 70%. So few days ago i bought 3060ti, installed fresh windows etc. Nope, nothing changed. Then i replaced CMOS battery, still same situation. I didn't updated BIOS, because it is 10 years old mobo, and newest BIOS is the one i am using. Also, i am afraid to screw something for good, it wouldnt be so hard without any display whatsoever. Tried different PCI slot, cleaned unplugged and plugged everything, still, same issue.
So. in short; i reset cmos, get post message to change settings in bios, because overclocking error or something, F1 to get to bios then F8 to select boot device. If i change anything at this point, i have to reset bios again. if not then pc boots normally, everything works fine. But after turning off, to turn it on again I have to reset bios agian and boot directly by override.
my specs;
Asus P8-z68v rev 1.00, the oldest one
i5-2500k with
8gb ddr3
3060ti.
and windows 10 on ssd.
tried windows 7 because i hate 10, also there are no drivers for Windows 10 for my mobo, but with win7 the situation was exactly the same.
Funny thing is, i had the same problem few months ago and somehow i managed to fix it, but have no idea how. propably some bios changes. But now even getting to bios is a nightmare.
btw if i change boot from legacy to uefi then i stuck on asus logo. ssd is gpt partition system.
i will be replacing the whole system expept gpu in months, but i would like to be able to use my pc in these months.
