Happens when I play a game for as little as a few minutes, the fan is at it's normal stock speed of 60%, and it's a prebuilt gateway. I overclocked a bit before and had some drivers crash so I bought them down to stock speeds, and the overheating started happening a few days after I lowered the clocks. I'm not sure what is wrong so maybe somebody here can help me.

It's factory overclocked, It's still on warranty so I'll have to bring it in for a free replacement. 100% is not the fan speed it came with so I don't want to make a bunch of noise over something that can be fixed under warranty.

USE YOUR WARRANTY

I had a factory OC'ed 9600 GT and i played crysis at max settings(not well i may add) and it NEVER got above 56 C at 65 % fan speed

Do yourself and your computer a favor and return and get a new one

I'm starting to think that it's a false reading, how would this happen out of nowhere and why would it not shut down at 102 degrees?

I dont appreciate your sarcasm

i was trying to help the OP out and u didnt state whether it was ok that the temps were that high or not

That was unecessary
