Hey all!

Earlier this year I stumbled into a problem with my PC where when playing any game after a certain time, the GPU's fans would kick on max speed and shut off the PC entirely, leaving no message at start-up saying what the problem was. The GPU in my PC is a Gigabyte Gaming OC 2080 Super.

I took the PC to a nearby tech store for them to troubleshoot the problem, and they deemed it to be the GPU itself (they removed the current GPU and replaced it with a test one, and nothing crashed).

I'm not sure if this is a common problem or something more serious, though I would like to attempt to fix it myself instead of spending money for someone else to fix it (if possible).

Was the test gpu also a 2080 Super?

Related due to the symptoms:

(they noted that the culprit could be between psu, gpu VRM, and mobo)
Kinda need to be able to swap parts out to narrow it down.
I'm unsure if the test GPU was a 2080 super, as they just put in whatever they had lying around. The PC does work perfectly fine just browsing the web or using any Adobe suite program, it just crashes whenever I attempt to play any game. The PSU is from 2018, I don't know if that is an issue in of itself or not.
