GPU is not working correctly

8 months ago I bought a replacement GPU(MSI Radeon R9 380 GAMING 4G) Graphics Card for my PC, so the card is not exactly old by any means. My computer says the deivice is working correctly but it is running games extremely slowly, that it use to be able to run with ease. There were no indications of the card failing, no blue screens and no degradation or screen changes seen at all. I noticed the problem last week after trying to play a video game having only used it for web browsing the last month.

So far I've checked devices and it isn't being seen. I've done virus scans with multiple programs including herd alert. I tried updating the drivers with no success, the driver installs and when I reboot it has the old driver having not been replaced (tried a clean install also).

Please offer any insight if you can, thank you!

I'm not sure I understand this part. Do you mean you didn't use the computer for a week, or that you did use it but didn't play any games on it during that week?

Try booting into your motherboard bios. You should be able to find the section in there that shows what videocard you have installed. If your bios doesn't see it then Windows won't. Look for the 'advanced' 'northbridge configuration' section.

I tried entering the BIOS twice, the startup logo is not appearing and when I press F2 my computer black screens and remains there with the power on.

Are there any exclamation mark indicators in Windows' Device Manager?

Have you tried clearing the motherboard's CMOS to force a re-enumeration of hardware?

Ok, a testament to my stupidity. The computer is picking the GPU but is not working. I missed one of the tabs in the device manager. The driver is still not updating for some reason and I cannot boot the BIOS. It says the device is working correctly but games that I was and should be running are extremely slow and unplayable.

What were you using previous to the MSI Radeon R9 380 GAMING 4G?
