I had my PC for 8 years now. I was normally on my PC playing video games when suddenly monitor screen went black and it kept on refreshing (no signal -> black screen -> no signal) every 5 sec. When I restarted my PC it didn't load BIOS, so I flip the switch of power supply and turned it on again. When it loaded MOBO logo it had dots all over it (it looked like it was broken picture), then when text should appear after it I got same symbols written everywhere (instead of text). When OS was up resolution was so low and when I got in Device Manager in Display Device my GPU had yellow triangle. When I was cleaning my GPU (from dust and replacing my thermal paste) the problem solved itself, and after 2-3 hours it's back again.

Solution
there are some steps so you can identify the problem whether it is caused by hardware malfunction or software error.

1. Try Starting the Windows in safe mode. if the problem resolves then it's good, if not it means that there are no programs that are causing the error.

2. Start Windows Goto Device Manager>Your GFX Card> Remove and Reinstall new drivers by downloading them from manufacture's websit and then restart if the problem still persists then keep troubleshooting

3. Open your PC then Securely remove take your graphics card out, check if there are spots on the card, if not then make sure that the PCI-E slot is totally clean even a piece of your hair can cause the problem. clean the slot, use compressed air to clear dust and...
Try using the iGPU (just to be sure). Then reseat the gpu and do a fresh install of the drivers. If the problem still persists then its time for a new one.

Also try using tools such as MSI Afterburner to check if the GPU is not throttling.

4. clean graphics card properly with compressed air, push in the slot gently and make sure that the card is perfectly locked into the slot. connect the power connectors after cleaning the connectors an the power socket on your gfx card

5. turn your PC on, look if the problem is resolved, if not then the problem is in the gfx card. you should upgrade it. also take your pc to a trusted PC shop. thanks for reading my answer! sorry for my bad english

An 8 year old computer? I think it's the videocard. If it was something else, the reapplying thermal paste on the videocard shouldn't have made any impact. Components do go bad over time, a capacitor pops and you're done. If you can run stable on integrated graphics, this would confirm it. If you can test your videocard on another computer, this would confirm it. If you could test another videocard in your computer, this would confirm it. The problem with your videocard, if it's the cause, is that it's likely this malfunction is permanent. Things like reapplying thermal paste may temporarily help, but a permanent issue is going to keep coming back no matter what.
