Hello all, looking for some help post a big GPU dramatic death last night.
Last night I was Playing Gta V through steam app with medium settings (system temps have not exceeded 50.C. approx when this type of gaming is occurring) nil other programs open. Game on one screen and second screen on home screen. Was saving game a few times repeatedly to check save files at the time.
A sudden shut down, both screens go black. At the same time i see a spark fly up from the chipboard of the gfx card, i turn my head and notice a small flame about 10mm diameter on top of it. I pull all cables and at the same time it flames out by itself after approx 2 seconds.
The flash marking from the spark that blew is about 15mm at its largest. The part of the board that it blew from is the bottom side of a line of small chips on the heat sink cooled side of the card. However The fire started on the bottom side of the card.
The chips are ranging in number from C5100 to C5199. They are black and look to be plastic or silicone and about 5mm x 7mm, I found a small part of metal that flew up with the spark. Its a perfect metal rectangular box less than 1mm in measurement.
The burnt and melted area is about 8mm x 5mm.
I have removed the heat sink from the card to expose the board set and have inspected it. There are no other burn marks or melted/heat effected spots visually. The exact opposite position of the burn on the other/cooled side where the acutal chip is on the board is completely normal, thus the only side of the board that is damaged visually is the exposed side/underside.
The connectors for both the power plugs on the card and also the chip connector to the mother board are unchanged.
So i'll get to my point;
What is the likely hood based on what i have written that the only issue is that the gfx card has died (albeit in spectacular fashion) and that it just needs replacing given its 4-1/2 years of faithful service.
Or do i need to take the high end power supply (at least it was back in its day) in to a tech store to have it power tested to make sure it isn't kaput also?
Or may there be other issues at play I have not thought of.
I am not electronically skilled so i am not much help there. I am looking for some help on what those of you who understand the tech / electronic side of how these things work would say.
Thank you very much for your time.

System specs:
Power supply:
Enermax, revolution 85+ (1020W)
(Pins going to gfx are 2x 6+2 pin)
Chip:
Intel core i5 processor
4670K (Lga1150)
Motherboard:
Gigabyte, G1 Killer, G1.Sniper Z87
(Lga1150)
RAM:
Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8gb sticks
GFX:
Gigabyte, Geforce GTX 770, 4096mb, GDDR5, OC Version.
(Not manually over locked, never touched it) (Gfx has 3 x onboard fans plus copper tubing and heat sinks)
Drives:
1x WD 1tb
1x Samsung 500gb ssd
Tower:
AeroCool, PgS B. (Plenty of room)
Fans;
150mm at front intake, 150mm in roof extracting, 120mm at rear extracting, 2x 100mm fans on side intake.
My rig sits in a well ventilated area. Minimal dust found on card after extracting it post fire.
I built the rig myself taking all due care approx 4 years ago. Everything was a good fit. Never had any issues.
