Hey, so i have been looking around the interwebs and so far i've come up dry. I have an older computer that i am trying to get the dustbunnies out of to make an emulation machine.
It was running onboard graphics, but i decided to try putting a dedicated card in for better performance in newer systems. So i got a Rx 580 used off ebay, plugged it in, and started it up, everything was fine till i tried to install drivers. Every time i install the radeon driver, my computer crashes.
I was running windows 10 pro, but after some research it looked like my Mobo wasnt compatible with win 10, so i downgraded to win 7, and again, as soon as i load radeon driver, i get the blue screen.
The message on the blue screen is "thread stuck in device driver" which research tells me is outdated drivers, most commonly the graphics driver, but when i update it is when it crashes. Any help is appreciated.
CPU: AMD Fx-8120
GPU: MSI Rx 580 armor 8g
Ram: Patriot Signature 2*4g 1600MHz
Mobo: Asus m5a88-m
Storage: Kingston 120g SSD and unknown 300g HDD
PSU: Corsair CX550M
