GPU keeps freezing while playing a game.

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I'll ask.

my GPU keeps freezing and stuttering when playing games. I just finished the build, and am not sure what the problem is.

Here are my specs:

i5 8400
16 GB DDR4 2400
GTX 1070 Founders Edition
ASRock Z370 Killer SLI/AC MB
Cooler Master ML240L AIO cooler

I have Afterburner running, and my GPU temp stays around 50-55 deg. It's not overclocked. I have it on high settings for most things, with V-Sync turned off.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? The only game I have played so far is AC Black Flag.

Is your game fully patched?
Do you have this problem with other games?

One explanation might be heat related and throttling.
What is your cpu temperature at idle?
You could have a bad cooler or a bad mount.
Did you remove the protective mylar from the cooler before installation?
Is the pump connected and running?

I5-8400 comes with a decent cooler, you wasted your money on liquid cooling.
But, that is water over the dam.

My CPU is running at 33-38 c.

I've only played one game so far, and it's fully patched.

You didn't list your PSU, this is probably the most important component for the smooth running of the whole system and where you should spend that extra bit to get a good unit (not a liquid cooler for a locked 65w CPU), so what PSU do you have?

I assume you installed all the chipset drivers etc for the motherboard?

Made sure everything was up to date as soon as it was up and running
