GPU Killing Machine?

So, it started about a month and a half ago. I had my GTX 1080 in it and it began to have coil whine and then I wasn't able to play games because when anything graphical-based (games for example) started it would freeze and I would have to alt-f4 out of it. I sent the graphics card in for repair and put an old GTX 960 in my computer. I reset the whole computer and installed the correct drivers. I downloaded GTA 5 and tried to play. The game seemed to work fine and so I exited to download other things. I then went back to play GTA 5 and after 5 minutes or so it crashed. Then I got on chrome to start looking for solution and then after a few minutes my chrome browser would go black and then back to normal (just the browser not the whole screen). After research, I realized it has to go with the Direct3D device (my gpu), so I tried reinstalling Windows 10 and the correct drivers numerous times and have the exact same issue.

So my question is what is killing my gpu's? I finally just got my GTX 1080 back from MSI and I'm afraid to put it in my system thinking it will kill it again. I had just bought my GTX 1080, along with a new motherboard, and PSU when this all began. So should I go back to my old motherboard and see if it gives me problems? What do you guys recommend?

It’s a GQ 650 Watt

That should be a good psu. But the problems point to a power issue. It very well could be that the pc is shorting due to being in direct contact with the case. Look for any pcb contacting the pc case or if you forgot to remove a standoff when you installed the motherboard.
