gpu making a buzz sound

ive noticed my msi gtx 1070 would make a low pitched buzz that is audiable from my case.

I realised it was my graphics card since the buzzing sound didn't play when I removed it from my case.

is this supposed to happen.i know coil whine is normal especially when the gpu is under load but this type of coil whine or buzz happens at the most random times.it dosent even have to be under load to have that sound.

the sound kicks in at 0:09.and btw this was recorded in my bios so making sure nothing to do with drivers.

is this normal?if not is there a fix to it?it sounds different to typical coil whine plus its happens randomly and dosent need to be in load to do so.

cant hear it clearly enough, its not an electrical bzzzz right? more like a rubbing hum - sound remains the same regardless of idle/gaming? it doesnt get louder right?

non-electrical noise = most likely cause: fan blade hitting/rubbing side housing of your non original 1070 (msi case fault).

the sound starts at 0:09.and while the sound kicks in,the fans don't even spin.so pretty much not a fan issue..also it probably better to wear headphones when listening to the sound on the video.

while gamming it dosent get louder.this sound just happens randomly regardless if I'm idle or gamming.when I game I get the normal usual coil whine that dosent sound like the one in the video.

this one in the video I have no idea why its doing this.and the gpu fans aren't even the issue as I played with the fans to see if I could replicate it.

the buzz noise kicks in even if the fans aren't spinning.

have you tried to re-seat the card and cables? possibly a dodgy connction.

there many a voltage issue from the bois settings menu, your gpu manual should have the details of what it requires

I tried reseating the gpu and even reinstling drivers too.i even set my bios option to defaults.

I also changed my power connector too.

But the sound still happens.btw im using a corsair rm 850i gold if curious what my psu is.

Perhaps theres an option in the bios to solve this?

i was only thinking about a previous members issue with hum, who found out he had the wrong voltage setting for his card, and when he changed it in the bios settings ... no hum.

though i would suggest caution when trying this method.

just a couple of questions.

when I make some settings or changes on my gpu with msi afterburner or set some power plans like prefer max performance or optimal preformance,would the settings carry on with me even if I'm not in windows and I'm in my motherboard bios?

or when I'm in my motherboard bios my settings reset to default until I log back in windows?

also I set my gpu settings on default many times yet the noise persists.could it still be setting on the wrong power
settings even tho I reset it to default?

msi afterburner should allow you to change the voltages without needing to fiddle with bios. you have tried altering the voltages and still get hum?

what I meant was if I alter some settings in afterburner and went to my motherboard bios just to like idle there,does my afterburner settings carry on with me to the bios with the clock and voltages I set it at?or does my gpu function without the afterburner settings until I log back into windows.

reason I'm asking this is that the buzzing noise was present even tho I was idling in my mother board bios(as shown in the recording).so if its confirmed that msi afterburner settings can still work regardless if your in windows or not then theres hope that its just some settings in afterburner that needs to be altered.if the gpu functions without afterburn settings then the buzzing wouldn't be caused by the settings in afterburner and NVidia settings rather it will be the cause of a faulty gpu.

rn I'm going to slightly alter the voltage and also I'm going to set power options to optimal.
so probably tomorrow I will be able to tell the results

ok the buzzing noise is somewhat present and still hasn't gone away.

I'm kind of out of ideas now

tried setting gpu to optimal power usage and adaptive power settings,set down the gpu voltage down slightly and somehow its still present.

1 theory I have is that temperatures could cause noise.im going to set my fan speed up (48precent)for a day.if the buzz still returns then I think its time for an rma(7th card that would be that I had to rma)

is it true high temps could cause buzzing?or any sort of noise?my fans automatically spin up when it hits 62 and my gpu idles at high 50s to 59 60.
