Simple modification to air flow allows 10 degrees temp drop in gpu

Actually there is a air tunnel, the way the cover is made the heat is expelled right were the fan is ,it gets real hot there. I needed something to blow the heat off the fins. If I were to blow the air on the fins than I would create a negitive airflow sort of like two storms meeting each other. I am happy with the way it is working saying all that it works real good.

Notice how the one is sucked on the fan the other blowing away the one fan is real old so it don't have the power it use to have but you look you will see the paper end is blowing away a better pic will be comming forgot to mention I wasted my oced rolling papers

I can understand your point buddy, I know you are one of the best here

I have a similar mod on my 7800 GTX SLI. On the side of my case, I puch two holes. One for the intake that feeds the card and the other redirecting the heat to the side and outside the case rather than blowing towards the HD and back to the intake again. Before, my card temps are 49c/50c idle and 63c/64c full load. With these my card's temp went down to 44c/46c idle and 52c/53c full load.

How do you post some pics here anyways?

I use imageshack you can upload them there and there it will generate a url or img link

I have a custom case that does not allow your type of airflow, I did have a water block on the gpu but the pump died so untill I get a new pump I stuck with air, I was thinking of running off the one pump but my rad is quite big and I dont think that pump is going to cut the mustard.

I have no clue when it comes to that. I thought I could just lower the picture size and just simply paste it in this post. I feel like a noob.

How do you get and use the imageshack anyways?

I got a 120mm fan for the intake and 80mm fan for the exhaust. It's a Thermaltake Kandalf case by the way. I used a dremel tood to cut the holes from the plexi glass.

Thanks Gomer, now I could post some pics. 😀 😀 😀
