Question GPU not detected + freezing ?

I just installed a new rtx 3060 GPU and 650W PSU. Unfortunately my PC is not able to detect my new GPU and constant freezing is preventing me from installing the nvidia drivers. I'm sure there's a laundry list of possible issues that could be at play here but I'd appreciate if anyone could help me narrow them down, especially since I'm no tech savant.

Motherboard: AsusRock b450m/ac
GPU: RTX 3060
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
Ram: 8GB HP V8 RGB

Have you connected supplementary PCIe power cable(s) from the PSU to the RTX 3060 ?
