GPU not giving expected performance

Hello! So i recently upgraded my graphics card from a gtx 960 2gb to a gtx 1060 6 gb. Now, my processor is an FX-8350, so I was expecting some bottleneck, but everything I've seen online (forums,benchmarks,etc.) suggested that I would see a pretty sizeable performance increase anyway. But upon installing the GPU and testing with some games, the performance was not near what I expected. With Fallout 4 on the ultra preset, I got as low as 25 frames in dense areas of the game, and as low as 30 elsewhere. Skyrim (with around 10 or so graphical mods) got as low as 20 fps (in Whiterun, for those familiar) This was about the same performance I had with my old graphics card. The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight did seem to get a boost, with a low around 40 fps on ultra. Is something else causing the poor performance? Is my CPU just bottlenecking that much?

My specs:
GPU:Geforce GTX 1060
CPU:AMD FX-8350 Black Edition
8GB RAM
MSI 970 GAMING MOBO

Even thou FX 8350 have a good performance on paper, in reality it can be poorly optimized for some stuff, it ussualy performs good in games thou. I have seen many people having problems with similar AMD CPU's, it could be a motherboard related problem, also i heard that AMD needs much more RAM than newer Intel CPU's, which means 8gb of RAM might be more than enough for most games on an new Intel CPU, but it can not be enough for older CPU's and AMD.

You shouldn't be getting any bottlenecking with this config, u could first of all try and do a clean install of your graphics card drivers if u have not already since upgraded ur parts, for this I recommend using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller).

If the problem still persists I recommend checking other hardware such as ur Ram/Harddrive to see for compatibility or faults, also check your power supply to see if it's giving out the appropriate power for your system or if it's enough for your other hardware, even a physical check to see if all ur hardware is plugged in nice and tight.

Last if ur still having issues try wiping ur Harddrive clean and reinstalling Ur OS and definitely take out your GPU not just to try give it a reseat into ur PCI slot but to give it a good physical inspection for anything burnt, warped, miscolored or any other physical damage to the cards board. If u can't seem to find anything wrong and your 100 percent sure ur other hardware is running 100 percent Than I would suggest you get a friend or someone to test your GPU in their rig with the appropriate drivers and if performance suffers consider a RMA of your graphics processor.
