ASUS Z170-a mobo, Cooler Master GX 650W power supply, i7 processor, 32GB, running windows 10.

System works fine with mobo's onboard GPU. As soon as I plug in the Gigabyte gtx 1070 GPU, system doesn't boot up.

Already tried updating bios and changing graphics card from auto to pcie in bios. pcie just goes back to auto by itself each time.

Any thoughts?

Did you move the displayport cable from the onboard plug to the video card's? I know it's a simple question, but it's a common mistake. Please don't be offended by it.

When you say the compute doesn't boot up, does the power come on? Do you see the BIOS splash screen? Is this display set to auto detect? If so, can you manually change it to the cable interface that you're using?

Yes, I did switch. I've also made sure everything is seated correctly.

Here's where I stand now. If I set bios to igfx as the primary card, I can boot up and get into windows. Windows sees my gtx card and I can actually take the hdmi out of the igfx and put it into the gtx card and everything works fine. I've tested on a game too just to make sure and it recognizes the gtx.

Still, when I go to restart, unless the hdmi is plugged into the igfx card, the system doesn't boot.

I've tried all sorts of combinations in bios. The funny thing is, with the igfx as primary, bios sees the gtx plugged into pci-e slot 1 even. It is just that as soon as I set the primary boot to auto or pcie, nothing...no bios screen, no boot up...nothing.

So what is the deal? Am I missing something in bios? The gtx card obviously works.
