Hi,

Finished assembling my (1st) ATX, but I couldn't get it to connect to a screen no matter what (neither the mb or gpu connections worked).

Removed the GPU, and the mb's connections start to work fine.

Before I removed it, the GPU "seemed" to be operational - lights and fans on.

Do I need to replace the gpu, or is there something else I can do?

BTW, both the Q-codes table and the POST table for the mb were signalling that everything was ok BEFORE I took out the gpu.

MB - Asus Maximus VIII Hero
GPU - Strix GTX 1060 OC

Cheers

Solution
Make sure GPU is well connected to PCIex slot. Make sure you connected power plug(s) to GPU. If that won't help, test GPU in different comp. If it won't work in 2nd machine either, you need to replace GPU. If it works in 2nd machine, it's your motherboard that's failing.

Plugging it out & back in actually worked, though so far I've only been able to use HDMI, not displayport...
