GPU in question: GTX 1080 Ti

When initially building this system, it encountered an issue where installing the latest NVIDIA drivers via GeForce experience caused an infinite boot loop that ultimately required a reformat (reinstalling Windows and starting from scratch)

At the time it was unclear whether this was due to any hardware issues with the GPU but that was discounted later when, upon initializing the build without installing the gpu drivers, things seemed to work fine. GPU benchmarks and a relatively stress-testy game ran without any issues and seemingly in accordance with the horsepower of this particular card.

A recent Windows update seems to have changed things however.

The updates in question:

The issue: Now the system continues to run and output normal OS function to the display. (so video is still being output through the video card) but whenever attempting to run a game (like Stray), no launch occurs (rather an error message)

Below are some of the error messages associated with that game, a benchmarking utility that also won't launch, and some other various diagnostic information:

Concerns: We've considered biting the bullet and installing GeForce's latest driver. But we're afraid this will end up in a boot loop yet again and take us back to square one.

Please let me know if there is any more useful information I should include, thank you!

Your issue is that you don't have the GPU drivers installed. the Microsoft Basic drivers can only do so much. I'd recommend manually installing the drivers from Nvidia's website and not using GeForce Experience, that could've been the cause of your boot looping.

I will give that a shot this evening!
