hello guys ... I'm probably very new to this. I used to have a sparkle geforce 9500 gt gpu. I've decided to upgrade my gpu as it doesnt support the latest games.I've purchased a zotac gtx 550ti igb gpu.Since then my problems have started. The latest games were not performing well at all. There is lagging everywhere and it is getting stuck evrywhere.Games like f1 2011 gave 17 avg fps(on low setting), nfs the run gave 8-9 fps(on low setting) etc., I thought my old psu(frontech 450w) was the problem and bought a new corsair cx600 psu. Even then the situation didint change. The new gpu is not even performing like my old 9500 gt. I'm a gaming enthusiast and I'm not satisfied with my gpu perfromace at all. PLS PLS PLS PLS help me out guys....
My system specs are ...
Intel dg41rq motheroard
intel core 2 duo E7500 2.93 ghz processor
2 gb ddr2 ram
Corsair cx600 600w psu
Zotac nvidia geforce gtx 550ti 1gb ddr5 gpu

I heard that u guys are the best in solving problems .... pls pls pls help me out

Solution
that means your gpu working properly but can't give satisfying gaming performance..
strange...
but for latest games recommend 4 GB ram for best gaming performance..
i think you've to upgrade your ram..
DG41RQ motherboard supports up to 8GB and only ddr2 ram..
you have 2 gb ram in one slot anther slot must be empty you have to add another 2 gb ddr 2 ram in second slot...
i've recently bought powercolor hd 7750 and Transcend DDR2 2 GB PC RAM (on flipkart) and now my pc performance is like charm and gaming experience is also great.....
go for the Transcend DDR2 2 GB PC RAM (JM667QLU-2G) on flipkart
Odd, a 550 should wipe th floor with a 9500. Let's get on with dealing with the usual suspects, then.
Reseat the card taking careful note of how it fits ino the PCI-E slot, I've had cards that seem to go fully home but needed a little extra push to get them fully seated.

yes .. The gpu is installed correctly in the pci slot . I removed the gpu and reinstalled it correctly.. still the same issue ... Is it possible that maybe the gpu is faulty or the motherboard does not support this gpu ??

That's realy odd.

It is possible you accidentally moved or dislodged something during the removal/replacement of the graphics cards. Check all the cables are still fully seated, remove and reseat the memory modules and any other expansion cards you may have installed. Download, install and run Realtemp to check the CPU temperature.

I notice the motherboard has built in video, only connect a monitor to the graphics card outputs, not those on te motherboard itself.

Reset the BIOS to the default settings, check the motherboard or system manual on how to do this.

If there's still a problem and you have a sound card installed, remove it and uninstall its drivers.

the gpu runs at temp between 44-46 when there is no gaming ... reached a max of 72 degrees with games. I assume thats normal temp. I dont have any sound cards installed. I changed my bios option to 'external pcie graphics'. So onboard graphics are disabled. The gpu box says a minimum of 2gb ram required for the gpu and 4gb ram is recommended. WOuld anything happen if I do a Ram upgrade ??

First I installed the drivers given in the cd that comes with gpu and then installed the latest drivers from nvidia website. Gpu's windows experience score is 7.3.
