Hi all!

Right, so out of curiosity I wanted to check if my GPU was running in 16x or not, and according to GPU-z it appears to only be running in 4x? Or am I missing something?

Relevant PC specs are as follows:

16gb Ram
AMD FX-8350
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Asus ROG Strix GTX 1060 6gb

Not sure if it's just a glitch with GPU-z or there's something funky going on? Any help is appreciated.

Solution
Just thought I'd make an update in case anyone else who has this issue comes across my thread.

I found out what the issue is and have successfully gotten my GPU to run in 16x. Basically I have 3 monitors, 2 of which are powered by a secondary GT710 GPU. It turns out I make a rookie mistake and inserted this GPU into PCIe slot 3, which limited the bandwidth of both GPU's in the system. I simply threw the GT710 into PCIe slot 4 and boom. 16x speeds on my 1060.

So in short, if anyone else is having trouble getting your card to run in 16x, check and see if you have enough available bandwidth in your PCIe lanes first. I.e. check that if you have any additional PCIe devices that either they do not saturate the PCIe lanes or that they're on...

I.e. check that if you have any additional PCIe devices that either they do not saturate the PCIe lanes or that they're on separate lanes entirely. Your motherboard manual can come in handy for checking the latter. =)
