[SOLVED] GPU only works with VGA cable

I bought some parts and assembled a computer for my sister. Everything worked perfectly at first. I connected the GPU to a monitor with DVI input (DVI cable on both ends) and installed Windows 10. The PC ran for a few minutes normally, then lost video. I rebooted, the first screen (the one to enter UEFI/BIOS) would appear and as soon as Windows loaded it lost video again.

I tried connecting an HDMI cable to a monitor. No video, not even on that first UEFI/BIOS screen.

However, I can use the computer normally through the VGA cable. The weirdest thing is that the PC even shows image with DVI, but as soon as Windows starts and a few minutes pass, the image is lost and I can't see anything anymore.

From the VGA video I updated the drivers to the latest version. I have uninstalled, installed again. I can't get it to work. I can't understand why on the HDMI no video ever appears, on the DVI only the UEFI/BIOS screen appears and the VGA works normal.

I have tested different cables, but it made no difference. This setup has no integrated VGA, I need the GPU to have video.

Can you help me please?

PC Configuration

Motherboard: X79M-S
CPU: Intel Xeon e5 2640 v2
GPU: GTX 750 Ti 2 GB
RAM: 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
SSD 256 GB
PSU: 450W

Solution
Well, GTX750Ti is only going to support two display outputs natively, I believe. To get a third working you would have to use an active display adapter.

VGA, DVI, and HDMI? Converting DVI to HDMI might be part of the problem. VGA absolutely will require an active adapter to anything but a native VGA display.

If it is a high resolution display, you might just be exceeding the maximum output capability. Should do 4K at 30hz over HDMI, but if you then also wanted another display that might be too much.

You should go into extreme detail at this point.

Might also be a good time to check for BIOS and firmware updates on the system. Shouldn't really...

And the driver installs, and the GPU performs normally with VGA?

Plenty of broken cards will give a video signal, get you into windows, but usually cards that aren't working will crash when loading the driver.

DVI can be analog or digital, might want to confirm which it is, and what your cable is like. Could be that the digital outputs are broken. Could have been a power problem in the monitor, wiring problem in the cable, or it just got damaged during installation. Presumably far from a new card?

Yes, with VGA everything works fine. My DVI is the digital one.

I don't think my digital outputs is broken. I just did a test here and put the computer on an HDMI monitor that I have, an LG Ultrawide and the system booted up (BIOS/UEFI screen and Windows) normally.

However, I have this problem with video on: a monitor with DVI input. monitors/TVs with HDMI – the same monitors/TVs works with other devices (PS4 and other PC)

Basically the computer only shows image on the VGA or a specific HDMI monitor.

Might also be a good time to check for BIOS and firmware updates on the system. Shouldn't really do anything, but worth looking into. Updated vBIOS might solve some issues or add capabilities to the GPU it doesn't have now.

Sorry if I if I have expressed myself wrong. I tried connecting one at a time, not all together

Exact GPU model: GTX 750ti-2g gd5
Display Driver version: 471.11 at Nvidia "about" program (at Windows Device Manager is 30.0.14711)
OS Version (exact): W10 Pro 21H1

Exact monitor models: 29" LG Full HD 29WK600-W (works with HDMI)
Exact monitor models: 22" Proview AR2238AFJW (works with VGA. DVI worked at first in UEFI/BIOS screen, stopped working a few minutes after formatting Windows 10 and didn't work anymore. DVI works unless I try formatting again from a USB stick, until Windows completes the installation)
Exact monitor models: 20" Samsung 2033m (HDMI does not work)

Trying to connect one at the time. Not all together.

Just a quick update here. Did some tests.

I connected the 22" Proview AR2238AFJW monitor with VGA. It worked. Then I put the 20" Samsung 2033m TV on HDMI. The Nvidia software recognized the device, but right after that the VGA screen started blinking, it looked like it was trying to change resolution. HDMI without signal all the time.

Then I tried to connect Proview monitor to the VGA + LG HDMI monitor. It worked, as you can see in the picture below (it's in portuguese, my native language).

Why is there this incompatibility with certain TVs? What might be happening?
