i have an fx 6300 and a gtx 750ti to which im not sure what i should upgrade first considering i will game at 1080p max
if i switch cpu i will need new mb unless i get fx 8000s otherwise new mb and potentially ddr4 ram
im on tight budget, thought of getting gtx 1060, what would be the best choice for around 120$?

You're not going to find a significant upgrade for only $120. Start saving for a new core system (motherboard, CPU, RAM) which should start at around $220. Of course, the more you save, the better components you can get.

Just as a base:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor ($116.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus - PRIME A320M-K Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($62.15 @ Amazon)
Memory: Patriot - 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($39.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $219.03
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

You are right questioning what to do as this can be a hard decision. In my opinion, go with a CPU, Mobo, & Ram upgrade first as the GPU can last you a while in gaming.

If you live near a Micro Center then they have the Ryzen 5 1600 for $80 new, They are taking $100 off. A B350 or B450 could run you another $30-50 w/ a $30 off combo. RAM should be no more than $45 for a 8GB kit. But that is just for Micro Center.

I went to PC Part Picker and got some basic Specs down for you. Overall it's only $50 more than your starting point and the mobo can handle any Ryzen CPU you want to upgrade to later if you choose to.
Basic Ryzen Build w/ Upgrade Paths

You can see HERE that the Ryzen 3 1200 is better than the FX 6300 except in cores and it should last quite a while for you and won't bottleneck your current GPU.

I don't think there are any wrong choices here. Planning can be your best friend. You can always upgrade a GPU but Core system specs are the more important options I think.
