[SOLVED] GPU OR CPU

Yesterday i was playing GTAV i noticed some lag spikes at times, so my question is should i upgrade my GPU (GTX 1060 6GB) to a GTX 1070 or should i change my CPU (I3 9100F) to a I5 9400

Specs:
Rog Strix B360-H
I3 9100f
Gtx 1060 6gb
1TB HDD
550W Coolmaster power supply

GTA5 is CPU-limited. But it's also not incredibly well optimized.

I'd upgrade the CPU, but I wouldn't bother with an upgrade to anything under an i5-9600KF.

Nope. $200 for something that will be a real benefit overall is much preferable to $150 for something that only benefits when you can use the extra two cores. The difference between the 9400 and the 9600 is much larger than between the 9100 and the 9400.

Yeah, I was going to recommend an i7....needs to be a worthwhile upgrade.

I also think the i5 9600 is the best choice. For games like GTA V, upgrading to the 9400 will not offer much of an upgrade in performance. Meanwhile, a current i7 is probably so far the other way that the GPU actually becomes a limiter. A 9600k will be both good now, and also be good in a future GPU upgrade. However, if you do have the money for an i7, that does make it that extra bit more capable to match a GPU upgrade to something like an RTX 2070.

RTX2070 is pretty overkill for 1080p gaming. Just sayin.

2 sticks (dual channel) i believe A1 AND B1

Ok, recommended for 2 sticks is B2 and A2, but what you've got should be fine. Should be running in dual channel mode in the config you have also.
