Earlier today my computer suddenly froze (Wasn't doing much, had a game in the background, youtube open, mostly using notepad and a pdf viewer to do some work.)

Since then, it appears my GPU fails to load... At the start up, everything appears to be running as normal but right before the windows login, my GPU's fan revs for a few seconds then goes back to normal and my computer uses onboard graphics instead of my GPU.

This isn't a new setup and have been running it for ~4 years.

I'm just wondering if my GPU is dead or if it sounds like my PSU is having issues. Unfortunately I don't have a way of testing my GPU on another setup or a spare GPU to try. If there are any potential fixes, that would be amazing too. I've already tried clearing CMOS and had no success.

Setup:
MOBO: Asrock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3
PSU: Corsair TX650
GPU: Factory Overclocked GTX 570 from EVGA

Download the latest drivers for your video card and "display driver uninstaller" from here http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html, do a total wipe of your drivers, reboot, then re-install nvidia's drivers (without changing any of the installation options). Might be a waste of time but the thing you're describing (fans go to full speed just before the windows login screen) happens to one of my cards in SLI if I try to update the driver without doing the DDU thing first.
