had this problem since nearly a year now, cleaned my pc of dust with air compressor every now and then, updated the drivers, everything. all my games lag (even those with the lowest graphics possible) and i can barely get 10 fps, what alarms me the most is the fact that my gpu's temp is 100c ish with nothing open! no folders, no chrome, no game, nothing. take a look for yourself:

if someone could tell me what to do, would be great. thanks in advance
(id also like to add that my gpu doesn't go up when i have a game open?? which is very strange. it sticks the same as it is with nothing open.)

Solution
True try to clean it and apply paste. I remember amd saying for the r9 290 reference that its normal to reach until 94c. And my dads gts 250 idles around 60c. Try a game like league of legends not something like cs go
I meant gigabyte? Msi? Dual fan? Reference?

they're all linked.
512MB ATI Radeon HD 5450, 100 °C (same as idle, same as in game)
havent tried safe mode

is there any way that didnt happen?

is it a laptop? yes = heat pipe/fan death = gpu death if not fixed soon after discovery / within a reasonable time frame.
is it a pc? yes = heatpipe/fan death = possible gpu damage/death if not fixed within a reasonable time frame.

If your gpu is 100C and you arent even doing anything (just sitting on the desktop) then its not getting cooled. Check fan for gpu is working? check heatpipe is 'copper' in colour and not black (oxidised). It might be possible to use a laptop cooling stand ... and have your laptop sit above the 'working stand fan' to cool it, but thats not really a solution.

i'm not completely sure what you mean by edition of gpu? bios date says 2009, if that's somewhat what you mean? im very aware they're old and crappy, but that doesn't mean they have to overheat like that when i'm doing absolutely nothing, taking into consideration they've done very well before and just as much as i needed, just trying to figure out what the issue is. as for the psu i haven't checked yet, will come back later and let you know. i'm also thinking about opening gpu entirely and cleaning thermal paste and applying a new one? i've read somewhere that if that's old, it could cause overheating as it is not effective anymore. fans seemed to be pretty fine last time i checked. its a pc btw.

it is a computer. i will try that, however
