Okays, recently I have sort of become an overclocking enthusiast. I first started off just having a mess around with my CPU because my CPU is locked so I thought Yeah why not have a try, I stuck a watercooler on my Intel Xeon 1230 with artic silver 7 paste, I increased the voltage and increased the Base clock. Allowing me to successfully run my 3.2Ghz Xeon at 3.6Ghz and with the fans on the radiator set high, I could even get it to 4Ghz, I entered a overclocking competition (nothing big) on HWBOT and managed to beat a German team using the same cpu. Sorry for the long story but basically I moved on to my ram next and finally my GPU. I was looking at getting a GTX 960 and SLIing it but I thought that was a bit expensive so then I thought I could just SLI my ZOTAC GTX 760 AMP Edition there's not a huge difference between the cards in comparison except the memory, clock speed and frequency. I thought I bet I could OC my GPU to run at a close clock speed and frequency. I managed to get my frequency from 6208mhz to successfully run at 8028mhz then it hit me, shit what damage could this be doing. So my question is what are the main dangers when OCing a GPU but take into consideration I take off the heat sink earlier, cleaned it, applied artic paste instead and tightened the heat sink closer to the chip. Any responses would be much appreciated :3.
