I have a question regarding my motherboard and its m2 ssd that is installed. I recently purchased a Radeon RX 480 and it sits right on top of my ssd. I keep getting notifications that my hd is overheating from HDD regenerator monitor. My question is, if I were to move my GPU to the only other slot, will this limit it. Is the 2nd pcie slot capable of handling this card or is it limited on resources.

MB- ASRock Gaming Fatal1ty Z97 Killer LGA 1150
GPU- Radeon RX 480
M2- m2

Thanks for your time

One slot has a 16 wide connection the other is only 4 wide so it will be slower. You could try it and see if the difference is noticeable.

An alternative is to change the airflow in the case so the hot air is not going from the graphics card to the SSD. This might be done by adding, moving, or reversing the case or CPU cooler fans. If the GPU is cooking the SSD that much it probably means you do not have enough case air flow.
