I'll admit that I haven't done much research on this although it seems like a curious topic. I was wondering how SLI/CF card compare to the higher grade cards two tiers above, ie. two 950's vs a 970. Is there a better performance here or does it equal out? Is this the secret to price to performance?

I could see how a VR headset could operate better on two 950's than a single 970 as you could have each card powering a screen. Honestly, I don't know that's why I came here. What do you guys thnk?

I would choose a single 970. with SLI, you have to wait for the drivers to be released and poor compatibility can sometimes ruin a game. Not only this, but memory stacking only works with the new DirectX12, which isn't used much yet and tends to create unwanted artifacts.
