GPU performance problem

Hey guys,

I recently inherited my brothers Sony Vaio Laptop which he had bought around 3.5 years ago.

He originally bought it for general use as well as light gaming (such as World of Warcraft).

Specs:

CPU: i5 480m @2.6ghz
RAM: 6GB
GPU: ATI Radeon 5450m
Res: 1600x900
OS: Win 7 HP 64bit

When he first bought it, it was capable of getting a smooth 60fps with medium settings on WoW.

However, I just tried to run the game and it will not even get above 15fps on the lowest settings in the least demanding areas.

I tried updating the drivers via device manager and it said they were 'up to date'. I tried to update them manually but it just Blue Screens half way through.

Anyone got any suggestions?

system restore to a point when your brother had it this was obviously the best time the laptop performed well

Im going to try and do a complete fresh install and see what happens

Well, after a fresh install and updated drivers, performance has increased - not by very much at all though.

Also, the laptop will now just BSOD (Driver IRQL less or not equal) when running WoW for more than 10 secs

Seems like the hardware may just be on its last legs

i belive this is the fix since its to do with the intel graphics drivers
