GPU pin power connectors

I am buying Gtx 1060 6gb X from Msi
and its saying it needs 8pin connector

right now I have gtx 770 2gb and its using 14pin how come ?

Your 770 uses 8-pin + 6-pin. Just use only the 8-pin for the 1060. Newer generation GPUs are much more efficient. Better performance with lower power consumption.
