GPU possibly dead?

So I went to my parents' house for the summer and I brought my PC with me, they wouldn't let me carry the whole thing with the case on the plane so I had to dissasemble it and reassemble it on a cardboard box. It was all going well until I had to leave for 2 weeks, when I came back the PC wouldn't turn on and when I inspected the GPU this happened: https://kn3.net/601CE6FA07DJPG.html

The last time I tried to turn on the motherboard it started smoking, do you guys know if the GPU is dead? Because the motherboard sure is

In a cardboard box? Were the components secured in any way???

Did the board/box catch fire or something?

There's really no way to know for sure without testing it in another system - definitely looks like some damage to the contact pins on the GPU, but *could* just be smoke....

I wouldn't bet on it working...

The components were not protected, I just assembled it and nothing else. The motherboard just smoked a little bit from the chip next to the BIOS
