Gpu power question

Hi first time PC builder.

My 1080 GTX needs an 8 and 6 power connection.

My psu came with two cables both 8 x8/6+2

Can I use one cable or should I use two.
If I use two is it ok to cut off the extra unneeded connections. And like plasti dip em or such to keep save.

Just put the 8pin along with 6 pin from 6+2 pin. You just simply slide the 6pin connector from the 6+2 pin. It is just like a game of filling the space. But remember DO NOT APPLY MUCH FORCE AS IT MAY BREAK THE COMPONENTS.

My question was more about. Using one cable that has three connections 8 for the PSU side And 8/6+2 for the two cpu connection vs using two cables and using 8psu x 8cpu and 8psu x 6+2 cpu second connection

In my opinion, the second choice seems to be good
